What does hibernation mean?
Hibernation is different from simply leaving a stopped server sitting
on a node. CoolCraft's hibernation system can archive an eligible
stopped server's files to storage and release its active runtime
allocation.
When you return to the server, CoolCraft restores the server before it
can start again.
Why does CoolCraft use hibernation?
A free hosting platform may have many servers that are not being used
at the same time. Keeping every stopped server permanently allocated to
active node resources would waste capacity that could be available to
people actually using their servers.
Hibernation allows inactive eligible servers to be stored until they
are needed again.
What happens when a server hibernates?
Behind the scenes, CoolCraft's hibernation process moves through
several stages. The server is first stopped, its data is archived, and
the archived server can then enter a hibernated state.
You do not need to manually recreate the Minecraft server when this
happens. Hibernation is part of the hosting system rather than a new
server order.
What happens when I come back?
When you access a hibernated server through an area that requires the
live Pterodactyl server, CoolCraft can present the restoration flow
instead of attempting to contact a server that is not currently
allocated.
During restoration, the system allocates runtime space and restores the
archived server data. Once restoration finishes, the normal server
controls become available again.
Why isn't restoration instant?
A hibernated server has to be restored from stored data. The time this
takes can vary depending on factors such as server size and system
activity.
A larger server with more world data and files naturally has more data
to restore than a nearly empty new server.
Does hibernation delete my server?
Hibernation is not the same as permanently deleting a server. It is a
storage and restoration process designed for inactive eligible servers.
Permanent server deletion is a separate action and should be treated
very differently.
Hibernated does not mean deleted
If your CoolCraft panel says that your server is hibernated, use
the restoration option and allow the restore process to complete.
Do not create a replacement server just because the live console
is temporarily unavailable.
What about the server's port?
CoolCraft attempts to restore a server using its previous allocation
when that allocation is available. If it is no longer available, the
hosting system may need to use another available allocation.
After restoration, check the server connection information shown in
your panel before sharing the address with players.
What if restoration fails?
If the restore screen reports an error, avoid repeatedly submitting
restore requests. Check the status shown by the panel and try again
when appropriate. If the problem continues, contact CoolCraft support
with the server identifier and the error you received.
